RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s leading logistics and supply chain provider, SAL, has signed an agreement with Sela Co. to launch a new logistics zone within Falcon City in northern Riyadh, valued at SR4 billion ($1.06 billion).
The deal, which aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub, is backed by the Private Sector Partnership Program, also known as Shareek.
The initiative, in which SAL Logistics Services confirmed its participation, is supported by the Ministry of Investment.
This comes as Saudi Arabia’s logistics sector has seen notable growth, with the number of facilities increasing by 267 percent since 2021.
These efforts align with the Kingdom’s plan to invest more than SR1 trillion ($267 billion) in the logistics sector by 2030, with SR200 billion already allocated, reflecting its commitment to enhancing infrastructure and attracting private sector participation.
“Our participation in the Shareek Program Center reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in innovative logistics solutions, upgrading infrastructure, and improving supply chain efficiency in Saudi Arabia,” SAL CEO Omar bin Talal Hariri said.
The partnership for the 1.5 million sq. m. logistics zone was signed in Riyadh in the presence of Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih, and the CEO of the Shareek Program Center, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Arifi, along with senior officials, investors, and business leaders.
The investment comes as part of efforts by the Ministry of Investment to accelerate the growth of the Kingdom’s logistics sector by attracting local and international investors and fostering high-value partnerships.
The SAL Logistics Zone will provide an integrated infrastructure combining advanced Class A warehouses, cutting-edge operational facilities, multimodal connectivity, and smart logistics technologies to enhance supply chain efficiency and facilitate the faster movement of goods locally and regionally.
Hariri emphasized that launching the new logistics zone in Falcon City, aligns with the company’s vision to excel in providing integrated and advanced solutions that support local trade.
The zone will serve as a comprehensive logistics hub catering to the increasing demand for custom-designed warehouses.
“The SAL Logistics Zone is not just a development project—it is a model for the future of integrated logistics services. We are leveraging technology and sustainability to create an advanced operational environment that attracts investment and supports the Kingdom’s economic growth,” Hariri said.
Furthermore, this logistics zone significantly enhances the company’s capabilities due to its strategic location near King Khalid International Airport, major highways, and railway networks, facilitating efficient cargo and distribution operations and reinforcing the Kingdom’s leadership as a key hub for goods movement regionally and globally.
“Falcon City is more than just a development project; it is an integrated economic destination aimed at providing a modern business environment that supports multiple industries,” Rakan Al-Harthy, managing director of Sela, said.
He further emphasized that the partnership with SAL Logistics Services will facilitate the establishment of state-of-the-art facilities that cater to local and international companies and enhance business and investment flow.
He further noted that the SR4 billion investment in developing a model logistics zone is part of SAL’s strategic plan to establish itself as a national logistics leader adhering to global best standards.
The project will meet diverse storage requirements while prioritizing innovation in services, facilities, and security systems, as well as climate control and energy efficiency.
Additionally, it aligns with environmental standards and enhances supply chain management, contributing to the nation’s economic prosperity.
The initiative spans 14.4 million sq. m and is strategically located to ensure accessibility.
It features the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center, a modern logistics zone designed to attract major global companies, an aviation runway, and an aircraft maintenance hub, enhancing the efficiency of air transport and freight services.
The development also includes economic, commercial, residential, hospitality, and entertainment zones, as well as an outlet mall, catering to the needs of investors, residents, and visitors.
As the primary developer, Sela is working closely with regulatory authorities to obtain the necessary permits for the remaining phases of the project, ensuring it meets approved regulatory and development standards.
This strategic partnership directly supports Saudi Vision 2030 by enhancing logistics connectivity, stimulating local and international investments, and developing modern infrastructure to attract businesses and investors.
It also reinforces the Kingdom’s role in regional and international trade, driving sustainable economic growth and positioning the country as a leading logistics powerhouse.
