ISLAMABAD: A fresh batch of cadets from Iraq, Palestine, Qatar and Yemen were among recruits who graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) on Saturday, the army’s media wing said.

The PMA in Kakul, Abbottabad, provides initial training to Pakistan Army cadets and recruits from friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and elsewhere in the world.

Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Naveed Ashraf attended the passing-out parade as chief guest while Sri Lankan army commander General HLVM Liyanage attended the ceremony as the guest of honor.

“Passing out parade of cadets of the 148th PMA Long Course, 67th Integrated Course, 35th Technical Graduate Course and 22nd Lady Cadet Course was held at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul today,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“Cadets from Iraq, Maldives, Nepal, Palestine, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Yemen were also among the graduates.”

Ashraf reviewed the parade and presented awards to the distinguished cadets, the ISPR said.

The armed forces of Pakistan and Middle Eastern countries enjoy strong ties. The two sides have often undertaken joint military drills and exercises involving their armed forces.
