In light of the rapid developments regarding commercial arbitration in Saudi Arabia and the greater region, the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) has announced the establishment of a Rules Advisory Committee comprising a group of international and local arbitration experts with industry expertise. The committee will provide guidance and advise the SCCA on its rules and services to secure and promote international best practices and standards.
The committee formation was announced at the SCCA19 Conference in October in Riyadh. The committee is composed of 14 members and includes independent arbitrators and mediators, former executives from prominent arbitral institutions, practitioners from international law firms, and luminaries from academia and the judiciary.
SCCA CEO Dr. Hamed bin Hassan Merah said: “The SCCA is immensely proud of having such an exquisite group of prominent arbitration experts joining the committee to assist the SCCA to rise to new heights. The quality of the committee members further underscores the SCCA’s reputation, standing and acceptance by domestic and international users to which we dedicate all our attention and efforts with the vision of becoming the region’s preferred ADR provider by 2030.”
The committee will provide guidance on future revisions of the SCCA’s rules, procedures and appendixes. It will also monitor international trends and consult with the SCCA on adding new or revising existing services profiting from its combined international arbitration experience and industry knowledge.
