Dubai bakery makes $27,000 cake welcoming season 7 of ‘Game of Thrones’

JEDDAH: A Dubai-based bakery claims to have made the world’s most expensive cake costing $27,000 and it is all about the design.
Broadway Bakery Dubai are marking the launch of season seven of the popular television series: “Game of Thrones” with a “majestic tribute” to the legendary Tyrion Lannister — who is known in the series as the “rightful King of the Seven Kingdoms.
The impressive looking cake was displayed just days before the release of the long-awaited new series, which airs on July 16.
According to the bakery, this epic four-foot cake is “made entirely of sugar fondant and sugar paste.” the bakery’s Facebook page said. The post added: “The elaborate craftsmanship includes the detailed modeling of Tyrion’s face and body seated on a meticulously layered Iron Throne made entirely of fondant.”
The 32kg picture-perfect cake will serve up to 120 people.
“Our team didn’t miss any of the small details either.” The bakery added. “Tyrion’s holding a flask of his favorite guilty pleasure, and we’ve dressed him up in his distinctive red jacket with intricate gold artwork.”
A four-minute video of the process has been shared on the bakery’s social media accounts showcasing the top-notch skills of its team.
